There's a particular kind of magic that settles in over New London, New Hampshire in the Spring. The snow has melted from the hillsides, the air carries the first warm breezes of the season, and the town feels newly alive. If you've only ever thought of this corner of the Lake Sunapee region as a Summer or Fall destination, Spring might just change your mind. Here's how we'd spend a perfect Spring day, starting and ending right here at New London Inn.
Morning: Coffee, Pastries & a Trip to the Farm
Start your morning right here at the inn. We set out fresh coffee and pastries each morning to ease you into the day at exactly your own pace. When you're ready to venture out, Main Street is steps away and has two wonderful spots worth knowing: Grounds, a cozy café right across from the Town Green, and Blue Loon Bakery, an artisan bakery turning out breads, scones, and pastries made from scratch with locally sourced ingredients. Either makes for a lovely start before heading down the road to Spring Ledge Farm, one of New London's most beloved local spots, where the farmstand comes back to life in spring with fresh produce, local goods, and the particular energy of a place waking up after a long winter.
Midday: Hit the Trails on Mount Kearsarge
Spring is one of the best-kept secrets for outdoor adventure in this part of New Hampshire. The crowds of Summer haven't arrived yet, and the trails are peaceful, green, and fully yours. Mount Kearsarge offers hiking for a range of skill levels, with rewarding views at the summit that remind you why people have been coming to this region for generations.

Evening: Dinner at The Elms, Then Curtain Up at the Barn
As the afternoon winds down, make your way back to the inn to freshen up for dinner at The Elms. Our on-site restaurant has just launched a new Spring menu that leans into the best of what New Hampshire has to offer, with local ingredients, fresh flavors, and the kind of unhurried dinner that sets the tone for a perfect evening. After dinner, head down Main Street to the New London Barn Playhouse, one of the oldest continuously operating Summer theaters in the country. Housed in a historic converted barn with no seat more than 30 feet from the stage, the Barn is a New London institution, and this Spring their Fleming Center is hosting live performances worth planning your trip around.

Your Home Base in the Heart of It All
New London Inn has been welcoming guests to this corner of New Hampshire for generations, and Spring is when the town truly shines. Whether you're here for a long weekend or just passing through, let us be your starting point and your ending point for everything the season has to offer.
