Summer Dining at The Elms

There's something about a Summer evening in New London that makes you want to slow down, and The Elms is the place to do it. A seat on the patio, a glass in hand, and a menu that gives you plenty of reasons to stay a while.
Start Here
Start with the Cast Iron Edamame and Chicken Liver Mousse, two starters that set the tone beautifully. One bold and snackable, finished with tamari, garlic crunch, and lime, the other silky and rich, made with Madeira and served with grilled focaccia. If you're a fan of something a little more elegant to open, the Tuna Tartare is worth your attention too. Fresh tuna layered over a silky tonnato sauce with sliced radish, pickled jalapeño, lime, and a puffed rice chip that makes quite the entrance.
Light & Fresh
On the lighter end, Pan-Seared Faroe Islands Salmon arrives over toasted farro with artichoke barigoule and watercress, clean, elegant, and exactly what a Summer plate should be. The Market Fish is another bright option, nestled over a silky cauliflower purée with roasted cauliflower florets, golden raisins, and toasted pine nuts. A little sweet, a little savory, and naturally gluten free. The Spring Cobb holds its own too, piled high with avocado, asparagus, cherry tomatoes, chopped egg, bleu cheese crumbles, and radish sprouts, all finished with a house-made dill buttermilk ranch. Hearty enough to be a meal, fresh enough to feel like the season.
Go All In
For something a little more indulgent, the Braised Beef and Ricotta Gnudi is worth every minute it took to make. House-made ricotta gnudi paired with slow braised beef, a vibrant basil pesto, toasted pine nuts, and shaved parmesan. Rich, herbaceous, and impossible to put down. The Slow Roasted Pork Loin is another standout, brined for 48 hours and served with braised escarole, seasonal mushrooms, and stewed kumquats that bring a sweet, citrusy brightness to every bite. And for steak lovers, the Flat Iron Steak is grilled and paired with fire-kissed asparagus, sour cream whipped potato, and a vibrant house-made chimichurri. A steakhouse classic, done the Elms way.
Worth the Trip
The Grilled Nicoise Octopus deserves its own moment. Spanish rock octopus grilled to order and served with salsa verde, Castelvetrano olives, fingerling potatoes, and a micro-planed cured egg yolk that takes the whole dish somewhere special. Bold, bright, and built for the adventurous. And if pasta is calling, the Spring Pappardelle, wide ribbons tossed with crispy pancetta, fresh snap peas, pepper butter, and shaved pecorino, is comforting and bright in equal measure.
